Birds, in general, are considered very different, physically and cognitively, from mammals including humans. This is not surprising, owing to an entirely different evolution path of birds for around 300 million years. Columbidaes , better known as Pigeons, were trained by humans for past 5000 years, and most of these birds we see around are decedents of those pigeons. As with other animals, this behavior of birds is known to be a result of reinforcement given as rewards on properly doing something as against punishment for not doing it.
